Celebrate Earth Day – April 22nd!
Get EXCITED - spring is here and you know what that means - it’s time to celebrate EARTH DAY! The planet is moving right along in its natural cycle and we find ourselves in the season of growth and rebirth. We are reminded of those wonderful things called leaves, of flowing water and, in general, of some of the most enjoyable aspects of Mother Nature. As she has once again begun to treat us so kindly, we are in a prime position to reciprocate her love.
Taking care of our planet is something that is important to us here at GladRags. Living with intention sometimes takes more work and we encourage you to keep it up – despite the disregard that many of our political leaders and their constituents tend to exhibit for the health of our planet. And hey, living with love for the environment can be really fun too! Frolic in a field, participate in a beach cleanup, or simply contemplate Earth’s wonders. We’re not saying you have to go hug a tree, but you certainly could…

| Self-examination in a Sandwich ShopLast week, as I waited for my sandwich to be made in my favorite Portland deli, Vepadoe’s, I began to read a rather large book laying on one of the tables. This book, The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider and Joost Elffers, describes the common personality traits of people born on a given day of the 365 days of the year. I looked up my birthday and, in introspective awe, found it to be eerily accurate. Apparently, the people born on my birthday are naturally inclined to recognize the cyclical nature of things. Those that truly grasp this concept of cycles are purportedly super stellar - or something like that ;)! So, I guess it’s a good thing that I am in a business that deals with menstruation – a TRUE cycle sector, if ever there was one. Check out the book and see if you and those around you are living your birthday characteristics to their fullest! ~ Diana |
Clare Burson
While GladRags is not in the music industry - or even close - I feel the discovery of Clare Burson’s music worthy of the GladRags Newsletter. A friend in Nashville, TN recently introduced the native songstress and strumstress, to me. An acoustic indie folk blend of arrangements, Clare’s collection of songs stir up imagined memories of a life I haven’t lived. Her unforced lyrics and musical accessibility create the illusion these songs are my brainchild. While this is of course untrue, I appreciate the opportunity to get a little lost in a world not entirely my own. Please treat yourself to her. ~ Sara
