MUM’s the Word
You’re using GladRags, you’re diggin’ the flow and you want more. Well, for answers to all of your menstrual questions, look no further than www.mum.org, website of the Museum of Menstruation. A comprehensive site about both the history of menstruation and contemporary menstrual happenings, this is also a great resource for those interested in knowing more about the world beyond disposables. There’s even an actual museum in the curator’s Maryland home!

Friend of the Month: Claire
Name: Lucie Claire Seastone

Hometown: Portland, Oregon

Age: 32

Profession: Ceramic Artist

Interests:

Organic gardening, hiking, cooking, travel, reading books.

Dreams:

Finding the perfect balance as an artist and a mother. Living creatively in every way I can into old age.

Number of years/months using menstrual alternatives:

7 years

Reason for switching to alternatives:

I was tired of the amount of waste created every month by using conventional products, and was living with friends who used GladRags. It seemed the perfect solution, and I found I liked them much better than the other options.

Favorite thing about alternatives:

They’re better for the environment; it’s just one less thing to thing to throw in the garbage can. I like not having to go to the store and buy period supplies every month; it makes more sense economically with less expense and less waste. I also like using them more than disposables.

GladRags night pads work great for post-partum. Soft, breathable cotton works best on our tender post-delivery parts. Buy them for yourself when you are expecting or for another mom-to-be in your life. Tip: soak the inserts in witch hazel and stick them in the freezer. Then, place them in your night pad when you need some soothing relief.
