ImageDive On In – Keepers are $29.99!

“I love my Keeper!” That’s what we hear from women all the time. The Keeper Cup is a great alternative to tampons. The Keeper lasts for 10 years or more – so you’ll know you’re taking care of our planet while you enjoy its oceans, rivers and lakes this summer — and for many summers to come.

Image Local Pickings

It’s that time of year. The time of year when it is just oh-so-easy to eat local produce. A fun way to pick up some fruits and veggies (literally) is to go to a U-Pick farm and get down and dirty with friends, family, and the kiddos at a good per pound price. These farms usually have pre-picked produce for sale in case you are too pooped to get to the raspberries. Another fun excursion is a trip to your local Farmers Market. Farmers Markets are a wonderful way to gather with your community, buy yummy food and get inspired to whip up a scrumptious meal.

Strawberries - the fruits of our labor! Friends and I show off strawberries from our Saturday pick on Sauvie Island, just outside of Portland, Oregon.

“Ick” Factor?

So, some people think using reusable pads, menstrual cups, or sponges is gross. I know, I know, this is quite a shock to you, you lovely alternative-menstrual-product loving lady, but it is the truth! Even some of we greatest GladRags fans perhaps once lived in those dark days, frightened by the “ick” factor of washable pads.

What was it that helped us make the shift to the wonders of reusables? How did we get over this phobia? Do you remember your path to reusables? We would like to be able to guide other women to reusables, but we would like to understand where they are coming from better. Give us a shout and share your story – we don’t even want to try to remember our lives without GladRags! Thanks – we can’t wait to hear what you have to say! diana@gladrags.com

ImageMonthly Friend

This month, get to know Emily. She’s Diana’s silly friend as well as a beautiful songstress. Emily is refreshingly nonchalant about using menstrual alternatives - it would be great if more ladies were as ‘go with the flow’ as she is.

Reason for Switching to Alternatives
One day I stopped using tampons because it felt "against the flow." I lived at the time in Santa Cruz where there is a menstrual alternative made of every kind of material (sea sponges, cotton balls, hemp, sand…) but Gladrags really sounded the most cozy. So I took advantage of a $5 special you were running at the time. What a bargain!

Favorite Thing about Alternatives
they survive my awesome dance moves

Funny Anecdotes
the usual "what's this thing?" when you leave your GladRags around the house like abstract art.
